Now, with a sharpened knife, cut the carambola lengthwise so that you get slices that look like small stars. Thanks to this cute feature, he received another name - "starfruit" (star fruit).
The fruit is completely edible, so you don't have to worry about what to do with its skin or seeds. For purely aesthetic reasons, you can, of course, remove the brown parts of the peel and along with the seeds. To do this, follow the instructions below.
- Hold carambola securely with one hand.
- For convenience, you can put the starfruit on the cutting board.
- Trim the green or brown part of the edge in a thin layer, starting from where it begins.
- Now cut off about a centimeter from the edges, thereby getting rid of the sharp ends of the green or brownish color.
- Cut the fruit into small pieces, and in order to make star-shaped pieces, you should cut along the wide part.
- To remove visible seeds, you should pierce the center of the starfruit with a knife.
