Linden tea: properties and features of use

Even in ancient times, linden was considered a sacred tree. She served as a talisman for newborn babies and a favorite medicine of healers who treated her with a wide variety of ailments. And today, linden is widely used in medicine, benefiting both adults and children.

What is the benefit of the drink?

The main healing effect of linden tea is its antiseptic and antimicrobial effects on the body. This drink effectively fights the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms, disinfects the mucous membranes of the throat and mouth, and alleviates the flu and colds.

Linden decoction is truly indispensable for colds: if you drink a cup of this tea at the very first signs of malaise, you can significantly alleviate the symptoms of the disease or even prevent its onset. In terms of its effectiveness, lime color is in no way inferior to synthetic counterparts.

Even after brewing, the drink retains an increased content of vitamin C, which stimulates the body to fight influenza viruses.

It is known that linden contains a substance such as tiliacin, which has a high wound healing effect and makes it indispensable for gargling in inflammatory processes. It is known that linden tea can cure even purulent tonsillitis.

In addition, linden shows many more positive properties:

  • liquefies sputum, converting an unproductive cough into a productive one and thereby facilitating the removal of sputum;
  • has a diuretic effect, removes accumulated toxins from the body and creates conditions for the prevention of the formation of stones in the kidneys and bladder;
  • used as an antipyretic at high temperatures;
  • creates a diaphoretic effect, thereby reducing puffiness;
  • exhibits a powerful antiviral effect;
  • is prescribed as a general tonic, which optimizes metabolic intracellular processes in the body and generally strengthens the immune system.

The positive properties of lime blossom are due to the presence of biologically active components in it - flavonoids, antioxidants, antiseptics, phytoncides. as well as vitamins and tannins. In addition, linden is rich in essential oils, which have a beneficial effect on the nervous system.

It is known that linden infusion helps fight insomnia and reduces the severity of nervous tension, relieves stress.

Tea from linden flowers is recommended to be taken orally for colds, as well as for headaches and muscle pain. The decoction greatly facilitates the condition when coughing and intoxication of the body.

Linden contains a large amount of vitamin C, which has an invigorating effect on the entire body, and therefore a cup of freshly brewed linden tea can be the perfect start to the morning.

This will be an excellent alternative to the usual tea and coffee, which have far from the most positive effect on the cardiovascular system.

A drink for women's health is very useful: it relieves pain and general condition during menstruation, normalizes the disturbed cycle due to antispasmodic action.

It's not a secret for anyone that with the onset of adulthood, a hormonal rearrangement occurs in a woman's body, which makes her nervous and very irritable. Linden tea effectively copes with these adverse events that accompany the onset of menopause, and allows you to survive this difficult stage.

And if you add sage to the linden, you can prevent the development of myomas and fibromyomas, which also often occur in older women.

In addition to the healing effect, linden blossom also has a rejuvenating effect, and the changes concern not only the skin - they occur at the cellular level, so a woman not only looks better, she actually becomes younger from a biological point of view - regenerative processes improve in the body, cells are actively renewed, the production of free radicals decreases, which are the main cause of aging of the body. Therefore, it can be argued that linden tea has a good antioxidant effect.

Finally, linden flowers are used in cosmetology, experts recommend daily washing with a decoction of the flowers of this plant - such procedures cleanse the skin, tighten pores and relieve inflammation.

Linden can be consumed even by pregnant women - this drink allows them to completely get rid of edema, and is also used to combat colds that pregnant women cannot be treated with traditional methods.

Harm

Linden has a healing effect on the body, so you need to treat it first of all as a medicine.That is why it is not recommended to use it daily instead of regular tea - there must be breaks between courses of taking the composition, otherwise problems with the kidneys and urinary organs may occur.

Linden should not be used as an antipyretic for a long time, otherwise problems with the heart and cardiovascular system may occur. Linden tea can be drunk daily, but not more than three weeks in a row, after which it should be interrupted for at least 7 days.

Do not make the decoction too concentrated. If you take a strong brewed lime blossom, then an exacerbation of kidney failure is very likely, and in addition, an allergic cough and an unhealthy shade of the skin may appear.

People with atherosclerosis, as well as those who have had a heart attack and neurological diseases, the use of linden is strictly prohibited. Do not lean on tea and patients with autoimmune pathologies.

Of course, like any other medicinal plant, linden can cause individual intolerance in some. If you are using the infusion for the first time, first make sure that there is no negative reaction of the body.

Linden harvesting

In order for linden tea to retain as much as possible all the qualities given by nature, it is necessary to properly collect the linden. Flowers are harvested depending on the weather from mid-June to mid-July, always in the morning, until the sun starts to burn.

You should choose only those linden flowers and blossoms that are fully opened, not covered with bloom and cobwebs. Flowers with fallen petals are also not worth collecting, as they no longer have the necessary healing properties.

In order for the tea to be saturated with essential oils, the collection of blanks should be carried out in dry weather, by the way, in this case, you can dry the grass for future use and use it instead of tea leaves in the winter season. Store the collected inflorescences in a paper or canvas bag or in a glass jar. Do not use a plastic container or bag, because in this case, the pollen will lose its healing properties.

Linden should be stored in a dry place away from products with a pungent odor, otherwise the grass can absorb these aromas, which will not have the best effect on the taste of tea.

Drying lime blossom should occur naturally at normal room temperature. If you additionally dry it in the scorching sun or in the oven, all useful qualities will be lost.

Brewing rules

Properly brewed linden tea has a pleasant sweetish taste and aroma, since such tea contains a large number of natural saccharides.

Linden tea can be brewed like ordinary black or green tea, with the only difference being that the grass is poured not with boiling water, but with water at about 90–95 degrees, while ¼ cup of grass is taken per 1 liter of water.

It is best to use a thick-walled ceramic teapot, wrap the infusion well and leave for 20-30 minutes to infuse.

After half an hour, the broth can be drunk both in its pure form and with honey.

An unfinished drink does not need to be poured out - it can be frozen, and then such ice can be used to wipe the face, such a procedure makes the skin soft and velvety, relieves irritation and removes inflammation.

Decoction application

A lot has been said about the benefits of linden tea, however, it is worth dwelling separately on the features of its use in the fight against colds, as well as the use of children and pregnant women.

During pregnancy

Linden tea has the most positive effect on the body of the expectant mother. It is no secret that pregnant women can also get colds, viral or inflammatory diseases. They may have a headache, neuralgia and nervous breakdown, however, it is impossible to treat women in position with traditional methods, especially in the second trimester, because any use of medications during this period can negatively affect the developmental features of the baby and cause his intrauterine pathologies.

That is why pregnant women are prescribed a decoction of linden flowers at the first signs of disease:

  • for colds - while adding honey is allowed, although you should not lean on it, since it often causes allergies;
  • for rinsing with inflammation in the oral cavity and sore throat with tonsillitis, stomatitis and tonsillitis;
  • to reduce swelling and remove excess fluid - many expectant mothers suffer from these in the last weeks of pregnancy.

For problems with the nervous system, doctors recommend taking foot baths with linden decoction, of course, a shared bathroom would be more effective, but we should not forget that a long stay in warm water is not recommended for pregnant women.

If a woman expecting a baby complains of a headache, then dry leaves and inflorescences are pushed, placed in canvas and tied around her head - this relieves the manifestations of migraine, soothes and normalizes her physical condition.

The only contraindication for taking linden during pregnancy is its individual intolerance, moreover, this means not just a rejection of taste and aroma, but also possible allergic manifestations. Therefore, a woman should listen to herself and if, when she inhales the smell of linden, she begins to experience nausea and dizziness, then she should refuse to use such tea.

And of course, the dosages and terms of treatment prescribed by the doctor should be observed, pregnancy is a situation in which self-medication is absolutely unacceptable. Linden tea is also an indication for a nursing mother in case of her illness.

For a child

Linden tea is very useful for children, it is a completely safe remedy that is effectively used to reduce fever during viral and colds.

The plant has natural antibiotics, so it can relieve inflammation in babies whose body is not yet accustomed to stronger synthetic drugs and may respond to herbal medicine.

The use of linden tea significantly improves the digestion process in children of the first year of life, it is often used for bloating and colic.

In addition, linden has a sedative effect, so if you give your baby lime tea to drink at night, his sleep will be stronger and longer, and in general the child will be calmer.

Babies usually love the taste of linden tea and ask for it over and over again. However, it should be remembered that prolonged use without interruption can provoke problems with the kidneys and heart, so you should not drink it for a long time.

Individual reactions of the body are also not excluded, therefore, before offering such a drink to a child, it makes sense to consult with an observing pediatrician.

For colds and coughs

It is probably difficult to overestimate the beneficial effect on the body that linden tea has for colds.

Inflorescences contain a large amount of vitamin C, which stimulates the immune system and is responsible for the "opposition" of immunity and disease.

Linden tea is a natural antipyretic, which can quickly and gently reduce even a fairly high temperature, however, you need to drink it correctly - preferably at night and then immediately “wrap up” with a warm blanket.

The diaphoretic properties of the drink are well known, which is why it effectively removes from the body all the toxins that are produced by pathogenic viruses and microorganisms.

Linden infusions are indispensable for sore throats, they are used in the form of rinses. Lime blossom liquefies phlegm and turns a dry cough into a wet one, improves expectoration, so that the body takes a serious step in the fight against cough.

Linden is recommended by official medicine as a remedy to help fight bronchitis and chronic diseases of the respiratory system. The combination of linden, thyme and chamomile helps a lot with colds - the effect of such a mixture greatly enhances the stimulation of the immune system and allows you to get back on your feet in the shortest possible time.

Helpful Hints
