Using candles with sea buckthorn oil
Any illness is bad, but when thinking about the need to visit a proctologist, many people also have to overcome a psychological barrier. Meanwhile, about seven out of ten people at least once in their lives experienced discomfort in the rectal area (pain, burning, itching), and the "uncomfortable" disease of hemorrhoids affects about twenty percent of the adult population. It is foolish to expect that the disease will go away by itself, because inaction can lead to a deterioration in well-being, the appearance of complications and the transition of the disease to a chronic form.
Of course, only a specialist can evaluate and prescribe adequate treatment in each specific case, but why endure pain, because there are safe effective remedies, such as, for example, suppositories with sea buckthorn oil. This natural preparation can significantly alleviate well-being before a visit to the doctor and will become an effective addition to the basic treatment of proctological diseases and not only.
Peculiarities
Sea buckthorn berries accumulate powerful vitality. Sea buckthorn fruits have a multivitamin composition: carotenes and carotenoids (precursors of vitamin A), tocopherols (vitamin E), C, a group of vitamins B, K, folic and nicotinic acids. An impressive list of micro and macro elements - potassium, calcium, zinc, iron, manganese, boron and others. The list of active substances is supplemented by organic acids, bioflavonoids (quercetin), sugars and pectins, tannins and some phytobiotics.The value of sea buckthorn is given by fatty oils that are contained in the pulp of fruits and their seeds and are a real cocktail of unsaturated acids (Omega - 3, 6, 9). All of these substances are concentrated in sea buckthorn oil, which is obtained from its berries and seeds.
The rich orange color of sea buckthorn oil is due to the presence of a large number of carotenoids in it (at least 350 mg per 100 grams of product). Thanks to them, as well as vitamin E, sea buckthorn oil is able to withstand the destructive effect of various harmful agents on cell walls and cellular structures and contribute to their restoration. Sea buckthorn oil exhibits the following valuable qualities:
- powerful healing and restorative properties for various lesions of the skin and mucous membranes;
- stops the growth of pathogenic bacteria;
- reduces the manifestation of inflammatory processes;
- exhibits analgesic and enveloping effect;
- has biostimulating properties;
- has a choleretic and mild laxative effect;
- nourishes the skin and tissues with valuable substances.
In times not so distant (40-45 years ago), when the existence of Helicobacter pylori - a bacterium that causes stomach ulcers - was not yet known, sea buckthorn oil was considered a panacea in the fight against this disease. In the arsenal of ophthalmologists, there were no eye ointments that promote the healing and regeneration of damaged corneas, and sea buckthorn oil was practically the only and, most importantly, effective remedy in such cases. Nowadays, sea buckthorn oil is still widely used in medicine for the treatment of diseases such as:
- wounds, burns, ulcers, radiation injuries, bedsores;
- eye diseases - conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis, corneal ulcers;
- diseases of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum;
- beriberi;
- tonsillitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis;
- diseases of the trachea and bronchi, treatment of the vocal cords and much more.
Sea buckthorn oil is used for internal use, externally for the treatment of the skin and mucous membranes, for inhalation in a hospital. The times when this valuable tool was in short supply have sunk into oblivion: now mass production of sea buckthorn oil by pharmaceutical factories has been established, it can be freely and inexpensively bought at any pharmacy. This fact is the best confirmation of the fact that the healing properties of sea buckthorn oil are recognized by medicine and clinically confirmed.
This is also supported by the emergence of new dosage forms with sea buckthorn: ointments and suppositories with sea buckthorn oil. Sea buckthorn candles are orange in color and cylindrical or torpedo-shaped. As a basis for their production, solid fat is used, in which sea buckthorn oil or its concentrate is dissolved. Thus, each candle contains a standard dose of active substances in high concentration.
Candles with sea buckthorn have such advantages as:
- when ingested, the suppository melts at body temperature, releasing the active ingredients of sea buckthorn, which are absorbed at a high speed, providing quick help (within 10-15 minutes);
- low level of allergic reactions and side effects;
- the possibility of using for local (local) action of the drug in hard-to-reach places of the human body (natural and pathological cavities);
- candles with sea buckthorn go well with synthetic medicinal substances and are great for complex treatment, accelerating the process of recovery and recovery.
All of the above allows you to successfully use candles with sea buckthorn for the treatment of "female" diseases and diseases of the rectum.
Indications and contraindications
The effectiveness of candles with sea buckthorn oil has been proven in the following cases:
- cracks and ulcerative lesions of the rectum;
- chronic or acute forms of hemorrhoids;
- proctitis (atrophic, catarrhal), sphincteritis;
- inflammatory diseases of the lower rectum as a result of radiation or chemotherapy;
- colitis;
- inflammation of the vaginal mucosa (vaginitis or colpitis);
- inflammation of the mucous membrane of the cervical canal (endocervicitis);
- erosive lesions of the cervix (in complex treatment and in the recovery period after cauterization).
In various sources, one can find statements about the use of sea buckthorn suppositories for the treatment of prostatitis and constipation, although this is not mentioned in the instructions for the drug. However, given the properties of sea buckthorn oil, the doctor may well prescribe suppositories with it as an additional effective anti-inflammatory and analgesic in the treatment of prostatitis. With regard to constipation, the slight laxative effect of the oil, as well as the irritating effect of the suppository on the rectal wall, in some cases, can contribute to a gentle emptying.
There is a certainty that if a medicine of plant origin, then it is completely safe, but this is not entirely true.Indeed, the active substances of plants and physiologically active substances of the human body have a common nature, which greatly facilitates their interaction and reduces the risk of side effects.
However, their action can be so powerful that it must be considered in each case.
Candles with sea buckthorn oil are no exception and also have such contraindications as:
- individual intolerance (despite the minimal risk, it is still not excluded);
- the presence of stones in the gallbladder - as noted, sea buckthorn oil produces a choleretic effect, which may be undesirable in this case and lead to complications in the form of cholecystitis, obstructive jaundice due to blockage of the bile duct by a stone and inflammation of the pancreas;
- pancreatitis – a balanced approach from a specialist is needed;
- diarrhea - in this case, the candle simply will not have time to act, as it will be removed from the intestine ahead of time; in addition, due to mechanical irritation of the intestinal walls with a candle, the situation may worsen.
Instructions for use
Candles based on sea buckthorn are used rectally, that is, they must be inserted into the rectum after a bowel movement. It will be more convenient to do this while lying on your side with your knees slightly pressed to your stomach. After the introduction of the candle, you need to lie down for a while so that it melts and releases the medicine, otherwise everything will flow out when moving. The dosing regimen is as follows:
- adults and children from the age of fourteen can apply one candle twice, and sometimes three times a day;
- allowed for use by children from the age of six; regimen for children from 6 to 14 years old - 1 suppository once a day;
- the appointment of sea buckthorn suppositories for children under 6 years of age is decided by the doctor.
The treatment course is determined by the specialist individually and can last from one to two weeks. If necessary, it is repeated after one and a half or two months. It is worth noting separately the use of suppositories with sea buckthorn for pregnant women and mothers who carry out HB (breastfeeding). There are no direct contraindications for pregnant and lactating women in the instructions for the drug.
Despite the fact that no negative effects on the fetus have been observed in the treatment of sea buckthorn, and also that this is a herbal medicine with a high degree of safety, the decision to use it in these cases should only be made by a doctor.
Sometimes it is difficult to ask if sea buckthorn suppositories can be used vaginally. Indeed, there is a classification of suppositories (suppositories) depending on the place of their introduction, such as:
- candles that are inserted into the anus are called rectal and can have a weight of 1.0 to 4.0 g;
- vaginal suppositories are inserted into the vagina, they can weigh from 1.5 to 6.0 g.
Rectal and vaginal suppositories have different geometric shapes and parameters, which are determined by the structural features of the body cavity into which they are intended. So, vaginal suppositories are shaped like balls (round shape) or ovules (teardrop shape), while rectal suppositories are shaped like a cylinder with a pointed end or, most often, torpedo-like. That is, as you can see, rectal and vaginal suppositories differ only in form, but not in principle and mechanism of action.Pharmaceutical factories most often produce sea buckthorn suppositories for rectal use; as a rule, only proctological diseases are listed in the instructions from the manufacturer.
However, if the gynecologist prescribed suppositories with sea buckthorn, you should not waste time looking for the vaginal form of release - the parameters of the rectal suppository are quite streamlined and will not pose any problems when administered vaginally. The candle should be inserted as deep as possible in the supine position, after which it is recommended to lie down for a while without getting out of bed.
You can find many positive reviews from those who were treated with sea buckthorn candles. Pregnant and lactating women are especially active in sharing their impressions of the effect of the drug, which once again proves that suppositories with sea buckthorn oil are the first choice for doctors when prescribing treatment for patients in this group. After analyzing the reviews, we can note the following indisputable advantages of candles with sea buckthorn oil:
- natural composition;
- safety, they can be bought without a prescription from a doctor;
- minimum side effects;
- the advantage of a combination of mild laxative and powerful healing properties in the treatment of diseases such as hemorrhoids and fissures in the rectum;
- they effectively remove inflammation, reduce pain, itching and heal;
- attractive drug price.
If we consider the cons, then it is worth noting the following:
- since the candles have a bright orange color, when they leak out, they stain the laundry, which is then difficult to wash off; this drawback can be mitigated by placing absorbent diapers on bed linen and using pads during treatment;
- when used, some patients experienced a slight burning sensation, which disappeared after a few minutes and, as a rule, did not require withdrawal.
Sometimes disappointment from, as it seems to them, the weak effect of sea buckthorn candles is shown by those people who eventually had to resort to complex treatment and additionally use other drugs. The fact is that each case is special, therefore an adequate assessment is important, which is best done by a specialist.
In mild cases, as well as at the beginning of the disease, suppositories with sea buckthorn oil will cope with the problem without the use of other means; in advanced cases, an integrated approach cannot be dispensed with. In addition, non-compliance with the treatment regimen (dosage, frequency of administration, duration of the course) certainly affects its effect.
How to store?
So that sea buckthorn candles do not lose their valuable qualities, they should be stored in a cool place away from the sun at a temperature not lower than +5 and not higher than +15 degrees Celsius. They should be placed in the area of the refrigerator that corresponds to these parameters. It is worth noting that some manufacturers have a production technology that allows you to store sea buckthorn candles at temperatures up to +25 degrees. However, in the hot season, especially in the absence of an air conditioner, this upper limit can be violated, which must be taken into account in order to prevent the candles from melting and losing their useful properties. The temperature regime of storage, as well as the date of production and expiration dates are always indicated on the packaging.
An expired drug should not be used. It would also be useful to recall that the place of storage of suppositories with sea buckthorn, like any other medicine, should be inaccessible to children.
