About culture
Sea buckthorn is a multi-stemmed deciduous shrub whose bark, leaves and fruits are used for medicinal purposes. The plant has a fairly wide distribution throughout Russia, but its more pronounced habitat is in Siberia. Sea buckthorn can be found as a wild plant, but it is often planted in gardens, parks and summer cottages. The berries of this shrub have unique flavoring and healing properties, and their yield from one bush reaches up to 8–10 kg.
Traditionally, medicinal oil is prepared from sea buckthorn fruits, which is widely used both for the treatment of internal diseases and for external therapy. Sea buckthorn has an excellent anti-inflammatory and regenerative effect.
Preparations from this plant, with their high efficiency, have a rather low cost, and you can buy them at any pharmacy or cook them yourself at home.
The medicinal properties of sea buckthorn have been highly valued since ancient times.Mention of the healing qualities of the fruits of this plant have come down to us since the time of Hippocrates and Avicenna. Today, sea buckthorn is used not only as a folk medicinal drug - preparations from this plant are listed in the State Pharmacopoeia and are used along with official medicines in the treatment of diseases in the field of surgery, therapy, gastroenterology, gynecology and other areas of medicine.

Sea buckthorn berries are the richest in carotenoids, which explains their rich bright orange color.Vitamin A in the human body regulates growth and development, stimulates the functioning of the organs of the reproductive system, maintains the function of the skin and organs of vision at a normal physiological level, and also activates the immune forces.
Beta-carotene, also belonging to the group of carotenoids, is equivalent to vitamin A, but in addition to everything, it also has an antioxidant property, which helps prevent premature aging of body cells and tissues.
Sea buckthorn has another valuable property - it contains a rather large amount of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), which stimulates the acceleration of redox reactions and accelerates the regenerative abilities of tissues. Due to the high concentration of vitamin C in the blood, the iron that enters the body is absorbed much better and in a larger volume, and in addition, the vessels and capillary network are strengthened: their fragility and permeability of the vascular wall are reduced, and its elasticity is increased.
All the valuable properties of fresh sea buckthorn fruits, when cold pressed, are also preserved by sea buckthorn oil, which is used as a medicine.
Medicinal properties
A gynecological disease called cervical erosion is damage to the integrity of the epithelial layer that lines the cervix in the area of the external os. It is found when viewed on special gynecological mirrors and looks like bright red areas of uneven shape. The cause of this disease can be inflammatory processes of the female reproductive system, trauma, viral pathology (herpes or papilloma), hormonal disorders in the body.
Due to the fact that some gynecological pathologies, such as dysplasia, erosion, and sometimes oncology, can be asymptomatic for a long time, they are found when examined by a gynecologist or when spotting or bleeding occurs, which can provoke ordinary sexual intercourse.
With erosion of the cervix, there is a danger of malignant degeneration of epithelial cells, in other words, this is the risk of oncological disease. During colposcopy, if erosion is detected, the doctor suggests that the woman take a biopsy - a small piece of tissue for examination under a microscope. Some women, due to the fact that erosion is asymptomatic, are often against taking a biopsy, and also neglect the doctor's recommendations and do not pay due attention to the existing problem.
Timely detection of the onset of degeneration of erosion cells and the adoption of measures to treat such a condition help prevent the development of the disease and eliminate the threat to life.
Modern medicine offers many methods of treating cervical erosion: the method of cryodestruction, laser coagulation, cauterization by electric current or the radio wave method, and coagulation by chemical means is also used. The essence of these effects is cauterization of the affected area so that a scar from the connective tissue forms in its place.
Determination of tactics and methods of treatment occurs depending on the degree of development of the pathological process. One of the most gentle methods of treatment is the use of tampons with sea buckthorn oil. This medicine helps with small fresh erosions, provided it is used regularly and correctly.
The application of sea buckthorn oil to the area of erosion allows you to accelerate the formation of granulations, with the help of which the damaged layers of the epithelium heal. It is noteworthy that erosion is difficult to treat locally, but sea buckthorn oil, having a bacteriostatic, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effect, does its job perfectly.
The rather high bioactive ability of sea buckthorn not only improves, but also accelerates the processes of scarring of eroded tissues. For treatment, the oil does not require any special preparation or sterilization; it must be applied directly to the tissue lesion, externally.
Application methods
Reviews of specialists in the field of gynecology indicate that the treatment with sea buckthorn fruit oil has good efficiency and is absolutely safe. You can use this remedy even during pregnancy, if there are good reasons and grounds for that.
It is best to use sea buckthorn oil for the treatment of cervical erosion according to the instructions.
- In order for the drug to fully come into contact with the affected surface, it is necessary to perform a hygienic procedure, which consists in freeing the vagina from mucus and secretions. Douching the vagina with a warm infusion of medicinal herbs will help to cope with this at home. Most often, decoctions of chamomile, celandine are used for this, or a boron uterus is used. To prepare such an infusion, you need to brew one tablespoon of herbs with a glass of hot boiled water, let the composition brew and strain. After the solution is ready, you can carry out the douching procedure.
- The next step is to prepare a tampon that will be inserted into the vagina. To do this, you need to take a piece of gauze or a gauze bandage 20-25 cm wide, cut off a piece from it to make an equilateral square. In its middle, you need to place a cotton ball so that the diameter of the tampon is 3–4 cm. To form a tampon, the corners of the gauze square are tied (this can be done with a strong thread). Then the tampon is abundantly impregnated with sea buckthorn oil and inserted into the vagina, where it is left for a day.
- Every day (every 24 hours) the tampon must be removed and replaced with a new one. Treatment must be carried out regularly, without missing a single day, for 15 days. By the end of the course, bleeding is significantly reduced or completely disappears. However, it is possible to determine how effectively erosion is cured only at a doctor's appointment. The degree of epithelialization in each person occurs with different intensity, and if necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated.
Tampons are best prepared in advance. For the entire course of treatment, they will need 15 pieces. And the solution for douching you will need to prepare every day fresh and warm. Please note that only boiled water can be used for douching.
In addition to the treatment of erosion, sea buckthorn fruit oil can be used to treat gynecological diseases such as candidiasis, cervicitis, colpitis, vaginitis, and even endometritis. The list of these pathological processes is an intractable disease, therefore, along with medications, the gynecologist prescribes local therapy with sea buckthorn oil in parallel. In gynecology, sea buckthorn oil can be used in the form of vaginal suppositories or a topical solution.
It should be noted that the oil from the fruits of sea buckthorn is quite liquid and easily flows out of the genital tract, staining underwear and clothes. Therefore, during therapy, it is necessary to take this circumstance into account and use additional personal hygiene protection equipment.
Before using sea buckthorn oil intravaginally for medicinal purposes, make sure that you do not have an allergic reaction to it. To do this, before starting the procedures, put a few drops of oil on your wrist, rub them over the skin and observe the skin reaction for an hour.
If you have redness, itching, swelling, you should immediately wash off the oil under running water and take antiallergic drugs. In this case, the use of sea buckthorn for the treatment of erosion is contraindicated for you. If you did not find these symptoms in yourself, this means that you do not have an allergic reaction, and you can safely use the remedy.
Contraindications
Oil made from sea buckthorn fruit is generally well tolerated by the body when applied topically. However, it can cause an allergic reaction or a burning sensation in some people. Perhaps this is the only harm that this drug can cause if taken externally.
In gynecology, the use of sea buckthorn oil for therapeutic purposes is advisable to carry out after the end of menstruation - the practice of application proves that this way the drug will work more efficiently. In the event that a woman has bleeding of an unknown etiology, experts recommend refraining from using sea buckthorn oil for therapeutic purposes until the causes of this condition are clarified and eliminated.
Many women who have undergone sea buckthorn oil therapy note a positive trend in the treatment of cervical erosion and consider this remedy an alternative method relative to other, less benign and more radical methods of treating this disease.
However, no matter how effective the remedy is, it is best to discuss the choice of treatment methods with your doctor and in no case self-medicate.
