Cucumbers "Mashenka F1": characteristics of the variety and features of cultivation
Deserved popularity in farms was won by cucumbers "Mashenka F1". This is the earliest parthenocarpic hybrid of cucumber-gherkins. To get an excellent harvest, they absolutely do not need pollinating insects, they can grow both under a film and in open ground.
Distinctive features
Cucumbers of this variety are very tasty and have high commercial characteristics. The early ripening hybrid is good fresh and ideal for preservation and brining. It is distinguished by resistance to various diseases: it rarely gets sick with powdery mildew and cucumber mosaic.
Cucumber foliage is bright green, medium climbing with six-seven-fruited ovaries. On average, from 1 sq. m remove more than 10 kg. "Masha F1" bears fruit for a rather long period from June to early October. Zelentsy is characterized by a regular, aligned cylindrical shape. On average, their length is 8-11 cm, the weight of each cucumber is 80-100 g. The pulp has a rich cucumber smell, crispness, and is not bitter. The seeds are small.
pros
The main advantage of the Mashenka F1 variety is its high yield.
According to vegetable growers, the positive characteristics of this variety include:
- absent bitterness and rich taste;
- ideal even shape of greens with small spikes;
- early harvest;
- the possibility of planting for open and protected ground;
- good disease resistance;
- the possibility of using fresh, canned and salted;
- high survival rate.
Seedling
"Masha F1" can be grown using seedlings and direct sowing on the beds. Seeds have good germination. If desired, they can be soaked, but you can do without it.
For regions with a cool spring and a short summer, it is recommended to plant cucumbers using seedlings. Before sowing seeds for seedlings, they should be treated with a solution of potassium permanganate. After that, the seeds are soaked in clean water until such time as they begin to peck. For sowing, planting containers with a soil mixture should be used, which includes 2 parts of soil, 6 parts of humus, 1 part of fermented manure. For disinfection, it is recommended to fill the soil with boiling water.
For care, it is required to water the seedlings, maintaining the necessary temperature and humidity of the room in which the seedlings are located. It is of paramount importance to protect seedlings from drafts and provide them with maximum illumination.
After 20 days after germination and a week before planting in open ground, seedlings need to be hardened off.
Landing in open ground
It should be planted in open ground during established warm weather, when return frosts are no longer possible. When transplanting, it is recommended to preserve the root planting soil as much as possible.
When planting seedlings on very hot sunny days, it should be shaded for the first 3 days.
If the seeds are planted directly in the ground, they should be covered with a plastic film that retains heat and accelerates germination. You need to sow in moist soil, warmed up to + 10 ... 12 degrees. Sowing depth 2.5-3.5 cm. With vertical cultivation per 1 sq. m planted no more than three plants, with horizontal - no more than five.
Care
Plant care should be done in the early morning or evening, when the sun sets. Care means:
- watering with warm water every other day, and on hot days daily;
- top dressing with fertilizers 3 times a month, for top dressing use slurry or a solution of urea (10 g per bucket of water);
- weeding;
- tying whips;
- preventive measures to avoid diseases - spraying with onion infusion or infusion of tomato tops.
Zelentsy are harvested as they ripen, avoiding overgrowing, as this can deplete the plant and impair fruiting.
With the constant renewal of seeds, many vegetable growers prefer "Mashenka F1" for its yield, taste and external qualities, for the absolute absence of barren flowers, which is very important when pollinating insects are unnecessary.
