Preparing peach jam for the winter
Peach jam for the winter will be a great addition to pancakes, pancakes, pies or as an independent dessert. The sweet taste of the fruit goes well with other products, so other ripe fruits can be added to the jam. In this article, we will look at step by step ways to prepare delicious treats at home.
Cooking features
To make a delicious pitted peach jam, you should take ripe fruit without overripe parts. Dessert can be made both from the whole fruit, and from pieces or grated pulp. Harder foods are great for chunky jams, while softer foods are better for making jams with a thick, smooth consistency. Since peaches contain a high level of sugar, granulated sugar should be added very carefully to the jam so that the resulting delicacy does not have a cloying taste. The cooking instructions are quite simple and are not much different from cooking other fruit desserts.
Many people prefer to roll jars without prior sterilization. In principle, this stage can be skipped by dousing the containers with boiling water. Some still prefer the old proven method, and sterilize the jars to be one hundred percent sure of cleanliness.
Fruit preparation
The first step is to prepare the fruit. They need to be thoroughly washed, poured for ten minutes with warm water, and then rinsed under the tap.It is recommended to blanch green fruits, for this they are pierced in several places with a fork, and then dipped in hot water for about five minutes. Holes in the flesh will prevent cracking of the skin. After the time has elapsed, the peaches should be taken out and washed in cold water.
More mature fruits can be skinned and soaked in acid and lemon to keep them from turning brown. The bone is removed with a spoon. If it is easy to get, in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit, it is enough to cut it on one side and remove it, slightly opening the halves.
Recipes
There are many recipes for peach jam, both in combination with other fruits and solo. Delicate fruits are very useful, as they contain a large amount of vitamins, but they are contraindicated for diabetics and allergy sufferers due to high sugar levels.
Confiture
Confiture is a jam with a jelly consistency, inside which contains small pieces of fruit. It is cooked in two stages: the syrup is boiled first, and then the fruits.
Components:
- 1 glass of water;
- 1 kg of granulated sugar;
- 2 kg of peaches.
Water is poured into a saucepan with a thick bottom and heated, after which sand is gradually poured and kneaded until completely dissolved. Ready syrup should pour from a spoon in a thin stream. Next, peaches are placed in the base of the confiture, and the fire is reduced to a minimum. For five minutes, the pan is kept on fire, constantly stirring its contents.
Small fruits are boiled in one stage, in the presence of larger fruits, you will have to break the process into several. In such a case, boiling will alternate with cooling, this will help the final product retain its consistency better. It is not recommended to keep the pot on high heat, as this can cause the peaches to lose their appearance.When the particles are evenly distributed in the liquid, the jam can be considered ready. Confiture should be poured into jars and rolled up with lids.
