Characteristics of the variety of tomatoes "Fighter"
All gardeners and gardeners want to get a high-quality and tasty harvest on their plots. However, for such a result, diligence and the use of modern agricultural technology are not enough. It is important to use the best varieties of vegetables. Tomato "Fighter", aka "Buyan", is one of the great options. It is only necessary to study some of the subtleties of growing this variety.
Peculiarities
This variety belongs to the very “young” - breeding work was completed only in 2012. But even over the past few years, it has become clear that such plants perform well in the conditions of the West Siberian climate. There are "red" and "yellow" subspecies, the difference between which is mainly in the geometry of the fruit. This difference does not affect consumer characteristics. "Buyan" - an early ripe type of tomato, sometimes less than 100 days pass between the emergence of seedlings on the surface and the ripening of the first vegetables.
Even by external signs, you can accurately determine that these tomatoes are different from the usual varieties. Leaf formation is moderately intensive. Inflorescences are 3 times less than foliage. The maximum height of the bush is limited to 0.5 m, that is, against the background of other varieties, the vegetable simply runs the risk of being lost from sight. But the dwarfism of the culture can even be considered an advantage, because there is no need for such familiar manipulations as garter and pinching.
"Fighter" grows well both in open areas and in greenhouses.The developers specifically tried to enhance such characteristics as resistance to negative weather conditions and pathological microorganisms. Solid immunity is noted both to bacterial infections and to the causative agent of tobacco mosaic (which, as has long been established, is of a viral nature). For 1 sq. m. in favorable conditions, it is possible to grow up to 25 kg of fruit.
Unripe tomatoes are green and covered with dark spots. As soon as the cylindrical fruits, resembling plums in appearance, ripen, they become pronounced red and covered with an even, smooth, glossy-looking skin. The very first harvest is usually larger than subsequent ones, but the average weight is approximately 0.07 kg.
There are few seeds in the fruits of this variety. Inside each tomato, 4 (sometimes 5) chambers intended for them are found. Judging by consumer reviews, the harvested fruits are sweet with a sour taste, that is, exactly the way good tomatoes should be. Even in the sectional photo, the meatiness and juiciness of the vegetable is clearly visible.
How to grow
Seedling
Excellent yield is ensured when seeds are sown in March. They are deepened into the ground by about 20 mm.
- First, the soil at the base is rammed.
- Then the seeds themselves are laid out.
- Then a thin soil layer with peat is poured.
Watering seedlings is done using a spray gun. In this case, you do not need to buy a special mechanism, since a simple sieve can replace it. The boxes are put in a warm place, covered with a film on top. After the germination of tomatoes, the film must be removed, and the boxes moved to where there will be enough sunlight. A pick is made immediately after 1 or 2 developed leaves come out.Top dressing before disembarkation is carried out at least twice.
Development in the free land
Hardening "Buyan" is needed about a week before planting. Its term begins after the end of the frost. The agronomic description of the variety recommends per 1 sq. m. plant no more than 8 or 9 bushes. Like any other varieties of tomatoes, this one is watered with exceptionally warm water. Cold liquid affects plants extremely negatively. On the hottest days, watering is done in the evenings.
Judging by the reviews and assessments of experts, it is necessary to pay increased attention to fertilizing and loosening the soil. Up to the formation of ovaries, it is advisable to add fertilizers of mineral origin to the ground. Noticing the appearance of fruits, they switch to feeding with potassium.
Although the "Fighter" in many ways justifies its name, even its stamina is not always enough to withstand various diseases. Therefore, the end result is largely determined by care. It is especially recommended to take care of the prevention of late blight (however, this is a universal requirement for any tomatoes).
In the process of fruit ripening, greenish spots may appear. In this case, you should not be afraid, this is considered the norm. As soon as the vegetables are 100% ripe, the spots will disappear without leaving a trace. Cracks are more serious. They arise:
- when planting in excessively moist soil or with unreasonable passion for watering;
- due to congestion of the bushes with fruits;
- due to an excess of fertilizers;
- with weak insolation.
Gardeners growing "Buyan" note its excellent characteristics during conservation. Smooth and even tomatoes do not tend to crack in the jar. The juice obtained by grinding the fruit satisfies all lovers of tomatoes. It is also recommended to include fruits in various salads.
Additional Information
Early maturing tomatoes of the determinant group can be grown using seeds collected in the last third of the season. You can wait for maturation until the first negative temperatures in the fall. Preferred soils are light fractions, with a high concentration of nutrients. Sensitivity to temperature changes during the day is minimal.
Thanks to its culinary characteristics, tomatoes are tasty not only fresh, but also after stewing, freezing or drying. It should be borne in mind that "Fighter" is not suitable for long-term storage without conservation. If you have to grow seedlings with insufficiently long daylight hours, the use of fitolamps is recommended. The total duration of lighting should be at least 15 hours a day.
It is possible to reduce the risk of deformation of the root complex during transplantation in the garden by picking in peat pots. Hardening consists in the fact that the tank is moved to a relatively cool place.
To prevent the development of most diseases, it is enough to add potassium permanganate to the irrigation water (several granules per 1 liter).
Despite the endurance of "Buyan", it is undesirable to transplant it until the soil warms up to 15 degrees. The beds are best done in the southern sector of the site (where it is more difficult for a draft to reach them). You can increase the chances of success, as well as suppress weeds, by mulching with peat or old straw. Experienced agronomists advise to loosen the soil immediately after watering, but not to be zealous at the same time.
The fight against late blight is carried out by spraying diseased bushes with mixtures containing copper. Bordeaux mixture helps to protect tomatoes from sunburn, the layout of which is done with a blunt nail.Adequate watering and the use of calcium fertilizers as needed helps to avoid the appearance of foci of gray rot. If such a nuisance has already arisen, it is necessary to spray calcium nitrate for several days in a row.
Another useful technique is pickling seeds in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. After that, dry them thoroughly. "Fighter" is well cultivated on sandy loams, but on loams and heavy clays it is more difficult for him. Independent cultivation at a low height eliminates the need to remove the growing point and axillary shoots.
From all of the above, we can conclude that this variety is quite suitable for busy farmers and summer residents interested in a guaranteed early harvest of delicious tomatoes.
