Tomato "Bobkat F1": description and yield of the variety
There are hundreds of different varieties of tomatoes in the world. Every year, new varieties of the most popular vegetable in the world are brought out. There is always a need for new varieties - to increase productivity, drought resistance or early maturity.
Path of the tomato
The tomato is a southern guest and belongs to the nightshade family. The name "tomato" itself is translated from Italian as "golden apple". And the word "tomato" came from the Aztec version of the name of this plant - "tomatl". The homeland of tomatoes, as is already clear, is South America, where the plant grows in the wild (like nightshade in our gardens). By the way, the Aztecs were very fond of tomatoes and stewed meat in them ... human, as their tribes were famous for cannibalism.
From South America, the tomato came to Spain and Portugal in the 17th century, from where it quickly spread throughout Europe. Surprisingly, the Europeans planted tomatoes as a decorative overseas curiosity and believed that these fruits were poisonous. The first mention of a recipe with tomatoes was in Italy in 1762. Tomatoes came to Russia 200 years later, and our ancestors also planted tomatoes for decorative purposes, because the southern guest simply did not have time to ripen in such a short summer.
Therefore, the work of the agronomist-breeder Bolotov was so important, because it was he who came up with the idea of planting tomatoes with seedlings and picking unripe tomatoes so that they themselves ripen on the window. We are still using these methods, for which we are very grateful to Bolotov.

Although at times this bush reaches a height of 1.20 cm.The fact that the plant has stopped growing can be understood by the ovary at the top. Due to the fact that the tomato does not need to expend energy on high growth, it actively develops fruitful branches.
Thanks to the work of Dutch breeders, "Bobkat" can grow both in the greenhouse and in the open field.
Growing Secrets
Tomato seedlings are planted in March. Seeds are already ready for planting, so they do not require soaking. The only thing worth checking is completeness. To do this, pour the seeds with warm water with potassium permanganate. Those seeds that float should be discarded, as they will not germinate.
There are no requirements for the landing ground either. It could be ordinary black soil. Planting is carried out by laying out the seeds in cups with soil, which must be sprinkled with a very thin layer of turf, and then watered. And then you should cover the plantings with plastic wrap to create the necessary heat. The film is removed immediately after the appearance of the first sprouts, so that they get stronger at room temperature.
As soon as two true leaves appear at the sprout, the seedlings should dive. The term "dive" means - to transplant young seedlings. In the spring there is very little sun, so you need to use artificial lighting. Otherwise, the seedlings will stretch, which will negatively affect the yield.
Tomato beds need to be prepared in advance. Tomatoes grow very well in beds where crops such as onions or cabbage used to grow. The beds should be in a sunny spot in the garden and well protected from the wind. But it is impossible to plant tomatoes on the beds after potatoes or after previous tomatoes, since there is a very high probability of infection of the roots with late blight. To prevent this disease, tomato bushes are sprayed with garlic water.It is made very simply: you need to chop 200 grams of garlic, pour a liter of water and leave for 2-3 days.
It is best to prepare beds for tomatoes in advance, for example, in the fall. It is desirable to add humus to the beds, and if the soil is acidic, then it is necessary to add ash.
Many gardeners take out seedlings for hardening outside, of course, only in sunny weather. Do not forget that the tomato is a southerner. This simple procedure will help the plant after planting in open ground, it adapts easily and quickly, because the environment is already familiar to them.
In the south of Russia, tomatoes grow well on ordinary beds, but in the rest of Russia the climate is very unpredictable. To save seedlings, you should plant them in a greenhouse.
Before planting seedlings of tomatoes, you need to prepare the soil. Tomatoes are capricious plants, so the soil must be disinfected from pests. Copper sulphate is commonly used to disinfect the soil. This tool can be bought at any gardening store. To make the ideal consistency of vitriol, you need to stir 1 tablespoon in ten liters of water. After that, you need to pour humus, and pour ashes into the holes. Ash and humus are the best fertilizers for tomato seedlings, which, by the way, do not like manure. The tomato of the popular Bobkat variety takes root very well in the south, but in Siberia or the Far East it grows only in greenhouses, because the variety does not tolerate frost.
After planting tomatoes, you need to pour them with warm water, sprinkle the ground around with sawdust or straw. Within 10 days after planting, tomatoes should not be watered. The roots must gain strength.
Care
The process of caring for young tomato bushes includes necessary simple operations.
- At the initial stage, you must decide how you will form the bushes: in one trunk or in two. If a tomato bush has one trunk, its yield will be low.
- When the bushes grow up, they must be tied, because it is difficult for the plant to support the weight of the trunk, and when the fruits appear, the trunk may not withstand at all.
- Soon shoots will appear from the axils of the main leaves. These are stepchildren, and they must be removed, otherwise they will take all the nutrients from the tomato bush.
- When the first tomatoes appear, the leaves around them are carefully removed. This helps the fruit ripen faster.
- One big plus for tomatoes of the Dutch variety "Bobcat" is watering. They should be watered no more than twice a week.
- If you are growing tomatoes in an ordinary greenhouse, remember that it must be ventilated;
- Regularly and carefully remove weeds, they take moisture;
- The earth in the holes must be constantly loosened so that a crust does not form.
About yield
The Dutch tomato variety "Bobcat" has a good, even excellent, yield. Up to eight kilograms of tomatoes are usually harvested from one square meter. But still, this is possible in the southern regions, and in regions with a sharply continental climate, the average yield of this variety is 4-6 kilograms per 1 square meter.
During the entire tomato ripening season, the Bobkat variety produces the same fruits. They are the same in weight and size. All neat, shiny, as if descended from the picture of the catalog. The fruits of the hybrid variety "Bobkat F1" weigh on average 180-240 grams. This is much more than the varieties "Premier", "Polbig", "Stolypin", "Black Bunch", "Sweet Bunch", "Kostroma" or "Buyan". Gardeners note the high taste qualities of the Bobcat tomato.Fragrant fresh, fleshy, with a bright palette of taste. Mistresses note the convenience of canning this variety, because the fruits are perfectly even, slightly flattened on top and absolutely the same.
As part of this hybrid variety of tomatoes, acids and sugar were ideally combined, so both juice and tomato paste are very tasty.
Fertilizers for tomato varieties "Bobkat F1"
Most gardeners and gardeners like "Bobkat" because of its high resistance to diseases and pests. However, this variety also needs top dressing.
While the plant is in the seedling stage, it will benefit from growth stimulants that will affect the earlier ripening of fruits and their number. For example, Epin will reduce the percentage of heavy metals in the soil. "Heteroauxin" - it stimulates the development of the root system. "Radifarm" also affects the development of plant roots. "Biostim" is a complex of natural, non-chemical components that help the rapid germination of seeds. But "Kornevin" helps seedlings quickly take root.
Growth stimulants also affect the fruits, which are stronger and do not crumple during transportation. Mulching is an important point for the development of the bush. Mulching is the process of laying organic materials on the soil around a tomato plant. Mulch helps keep moisture in the ground and saves during hot weather.
One of the main dangerous pests of all tomatoes is the whitefly. Whiteflies are very small, tiny butterflies. To recognize that your tomatoes are infected with whitefly, you can do the following:
- yellow dots no larger than a millimeter in size;
- the leaf begins to fade;
- soot deposits appear on the reverse side of the sheet;
- on healthy sheets, circles with a clutch of small yellow eggs are found.
Save the tomato bush means "Confidor". One milligram of the drug is diluted in ten liters of water. This solution is enough to spray 100 square meters of tomato seedlings.
In general, the Bokat F1 hybrid tomato variety takes root well and is very easy to care for. If you water the seedlings with warm water, they will grow faster and stronger. The main thing is not to water them too often, because "Bobcat" is not afraid of drought and does not tolerate too much moisture. Yes, and fertilizers should not be carried away, it is advisable to do only 2-3 top dressing for the entire period of growth.
By choosing "Bobcat", you will not regret it. It is good both for home preparations and for sale on the market, because they have a very attractive appearance. And even if you are an inexperienced gardener, you can plant this particular variety. "Bobkat" is just right for beginner summer residents: a minimum of knowledge, a minimum of labor, a minimum risk of crop loss.
