Description of the grape variety Crimson

A wonderful summer product is grapes. Can quench thirst and satiate at the same time. Contains a lot of useful substances: vitamins and minerals. Recommended for both healthy people and those with various diseases. Especially for those who have heart problems.

Grapes have long ceased to be an exclusively southern plant. Modern varieties feel good in the middle lane and even in the northern regions. So that the culture could endure the winter cold, frost-resistant hybrids were bred. And in order for the crop to have time to ripen during a short summer, selection was carried out in the direction of reducing the ripening time of the fruits.

Let's talk about one of these in more detail. We will talk about the variety "Crimson".

Description

The "Crimson" grape, like many modern varieties, appeared thanks to an amateur breeder. Vasily Ulyanovich Kapelyushny, "Kulibin" among winegrowers, brought out this wonderful hybrid by crossing two varieties: "Charrel" and "Wax". And I didn't guess. The result exceeded all expectations.

  1. Appearance beautiful, makes you want to taste these fruits as soon as possible. Clusters grow large and medium in size. The shape is conical. The weight of each ranges from 600 to 900 g. There are also larger specimens, there are champions of 2 kg.
  2. Berry color initially yellow-green, then acquires a red-orange hue. Colored unevenly, as if browned on one side. For this variety and got its name. Differs in the large size of berries, 3.5 by 2.5 cm, their shape is elongated, oval.
  3. Taste rich sweet with a pronounced nutmeg tint. The sugar content is very high - 23%, and the acid content, on the contrary, is low - 6 g / l. The pulp is dense, but the berry, once in the mouth, strikes with juiciness.

The main advantage of this grape is its very early ripening. They are only 100, maximum 110 days. Thanks to this, the berries have a short warm period in order to reach the standard characteristics.

Fungal diseases cause a lot of trouble for winegrowers. The good news is that this variety is slightly susceptible to them. The hybrid is practically not affected by the most common of them: downy mildew (mildew), powdery mildew, gray rot.

True, other diseases may require treatment.

Thick and dense skin allows you not to worry about damage to the fruit by wasps. These insects are not able to bite through it and ruin the crop. At the same time, the shell does not taste, does not cause a desire to get rid of it.

Grape cuttings take root well in a new place and give fast and strong growth. In this regard, the variety does not require special attention when leaving. Up to 7 kg of berries often ripen on one vine.

Frost resistance is excellent. The ability to withstand air temperature drops to -25 ° C is an important argument for breeding "Crimson" in the northern regions. And with additional shelters, more severe colds are not terrible.

Bisexual variety. Both male and female flowers appear on the bush in spring. This means that it is self-pollinating. The probability of cross-pollination with another variety is sharply reduced, which is important when breeding several hybrids in one compound.

Transportability is high, but the shelf life is not very long, like all early varieties. But it still has something to appreciate.

Landing and care

In general, for "Crimson" grapes, all the main recommendations for planting and care apply. We will try to focus on the characteristic features relating only to this variety.

  • When planting, it is necessary to take into account the vigorous growth of the bush and provide it with a wide space, access to the sun and protection from the wind. Thickening of the shoots should not be allowed, otherwise the berries and clusters are crushed.
  • "Crimson" can grow even in very wet soils that are inaccessible to other varieties. However, if possible, this should be avoided, as well as treated with drugs that prevent the appearance of the fungus. Prophylactic agents are "Champion", "Thiovit". Therapeutic - "Acrobat", "Kvadris".
  • It is necessary to constantly remove weeds around the plants. Not only do they clog the bush, but pests such as grape mites and phylloxera (aphids) can also pass from them to the vine. It is better to fight weeds manually, because chemical treatment can interfere with the normal growth of young grape shoots.
  • Pruning is preferably done long - for 6-8 eyes, leaving up to 35-40 on the vine.

Best of all, one-year-old seedlings take root and grow. Before planting, it is important to inspect the roots and remove all weak and extra processes. If the root system seems weak, you should use the Kornevit or Heteroauxin preparations. They will stimulate its growth and further rooting of the plant. Then, when the seedlings are strengthened and shoots, it is recommended to perform the following procedure: dig up the top of the soil, removing frail roots. This will strengthen the root system as a whole.

Do not forget about top dressing and fertilizers. It is advisable to make them three times a season. In the spring, after waking up, the plants lack minerals, so it is worth providing them with a sufficient amount of potassium, superphosphate and nitrogen in a ratio of 35: 45: 50 g per bush. In the summer, until new clusters bloom, organic matter is needed. In this capacity, manure and chicken manure are suitable. They are diluted with water to a moderately liquid state, stand for a week. Then, diluting in a ratio of 1: 6, the bushes are watered. One bush has a bucket of such top dressing.

Reviews

Those who grew Crimson grapes speak positively about the variety as a whole. He attracts gardeners with ripening terms, taste qualities. They notice fruity shades, calling them “marmalade grapes”. The berries in the hands are often not allowed to pick up color, picking earlier. Color does not keep up with maturity.

Some, despite the declared high survival rate, fail to root the hybrid with seedlings. Problems can be in different ways: unsuitable soil and care, weak roots, dishonesty of the seller, etc.

Experienced gardeners give advice: soak the roots for several days in water before planting. Also, "Crimson" can be grafted onto other varieties, but in this case, the berry often does not reach the maximum possible size.

In general, the variety has proven itself well in breeding in temperate latitudes. And in terms of taste and presentation, it is not inferior to its southern counterparts, for example, "Pink". You can definitely recommend it for planting in your backyard.
