Jam
To make jam the old fashioned way, you will need:
- berries - 1 kilogram;
- granulated sugar - 1 kilogram;
- purified water - 300 milliliters.
Before proceeding with the process of direct cooking, the berries of the stone fruit must be prepared - sorted out, washed and dried. Jam can be prepared with or without seeds - your choice. While the berries are drying, in a separate container it is necessary to prepare a classic syrup. To do this, water must be mixed with sugar and put this mixture on fire. Then wait until the syrup boils and boil for another 5-7 minutes.
After that, it is necessary to place the berries in the resulting syrup and once again wait for the jam to boil. Then the container must be removed from the fire and repeated several similar cycles (boil the mixture - cool - boil again). After that, the dessert must be distributed among pre-sterilized jars and rolled up with lids.
It is also necessary to turn the jars upside down, wait for them to cool completely, and then take them to a dark, cool place (for example, in a cellar).
Jelly
In addition to jam, you can make jelly with sugar from the bones.Estimated cooking time is 45 minutes (this figure may vary depending on the power of your oven). For this recipe you need to take:
- berries - 1 kilogram;
- granulated sugar - 800 grams;
- purified water.
Pre-washed and sorted berries should be placed in a saucepan and poured with water (200 milliliters). Then we put the container on the fire. Now you need to wait for the moment when the berries begin to burst (about 5 minutes of cooking). The next step in the preparation is to grind the bone through a sieve. At this point, it is also important to properly sugar it. We return the jelly to the fire - it needs to be boiled (for 10 minutes).
Don't be alarmed if the jelly is too runny. After standing for a while, it will acquire the desired consistency.
Compote
In addition to sweet desserts, delicious and healthy drinks are often prepared from bone berries. So, in order to prepare compote, it is necessary to pour berries and sugar into a sterilized three-liter bottle (in proportions 1: 1). Boiling water should be poured into the same jar (filtered or otherwise purified water should be heated). Next, you need to let the liquid brew for several hours, and then pour it into a saucepan. We put the pan with compote on the fire and bring to a boil, and then again pour it into the bottle and roll up the lid.
